CLAT 2018 Exam Overview :

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is one of the prevalent examinations and it is a law entrance exam. The CLAT 2018 Application Form submission is expected to be started from the first week of January 2018. Candidates who are interested to get admission in UG and PG Law courses will be able to apply for CLAT 2018 from the official website of CLAT that is clat.ac.in/. However, only eligible candidates can fill CLAT 2018 Online Form because candidates must have the required educational qualification to appear in Common Law Admission Test.

Latest Updates: CLAT 2018 Application form will be released in January 2018 at clat.ac.in and it will be closed in March 2018. CLAT 2018 Examination is expected to be organised on 2nd Sunday of May 2018.

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test which is prevalent all India level law common entrance examination which is conducted by 8 National Law Universities (NLUs) rotationally. It is a Common Law Admission Test for students who are seeking to get admission in integrated LL.M and LL.B programme. Yearly a huge number of students apply for CLAT examination and early year CLAT is conducted on 2nd Sunday of May month. Therefore, CLAT 2018 examination is also expected to be conducted on 2nd Sunday of May 2018. CLAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria :

Students who are going to fill CLAT 2018 online form should know the CLAT 2018 eligibility criteria because it defines the maximum educational qualification, age limit, percentage to apply for the  Common Law Admission Test. Let’s have a look at the educational qualification and age limit for UG and PG law programme.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for UG

Educational Qualification: Students should be passed 12th examination with at least 45% Marks and SC/ST students must have at least 40% marks.

Age Limit: The unreserved category candidates/NRIs/NRI sponsored student’s upper age should not be more than 20 years as on 1st July 2018 and SC/ST/OBC/SAP category student’s age should not be more than 22 years.

Note: Students who are appearing in 12th and give examination upcoming in March/April will also be eligible for CLAT 2018. However, candidates will have to give the proof of passing the 12th examination doing the admission.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for PG

Educational Qualification: Students should have done LL.B OR Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.) OR any other equivalent exam with at least 55% Marks and SC/ST students should have at least 50%.

Age Limit: There is no age limit for students who are going to fill CLAT Application Form for PG Courses.

CLAT 2018 Application Form :

The Common Law Admission Test examination yearly conducts on 2nd Sunday of May, so it is expected that this year it will also conduct on 2nd Sunday of May 2018. However, the CLAT 2018 exam date will be released after announcing the CLAT Notification 2018. As per the expected dates, the notification will be released in December 2017 and online application form submission procedure will be started from 1st week of January to March 2018. Candidates are advised to fill CLAT 2018 Application Form before the last date otherwise they will not be eligible to appear in the examination. Candidates are suggested to first check their eligibility criteria carefully because if they are not eligible then they cannot apply for CLAT Exam 2018. How to fill CLAT Application Form 2018?

  • First of all, visit the official website of CLAT i.e. clat.ac.in
  • Candidates will have to first register by creating a login id by Email Address
  • Click on the CLAT Application form 2018
  • Enter all the required and need details in the application form
  • While filling the application form do not forget to fill post preference order for NLU’s
  • Must upload the scanned copies of signature and passport size photograph (30 mm x 45 mm) that size not more than 100 KB
  • Submit application form and no need to send a hard copy of form to the CLAT office

CLAT 2018 Application Fee :

The CLAT application fee is to be paid only via net banking/credit card/ debit card or another online process. The application fee is different for each category candidates. The General/SAP/OBC and other category candidates will have to pay Rs. 4000/- and SC/ST candidates will have to pay Rs. 3500/-.


CLAT 2018 Exam Pattern :

CLAT Exam Pattern for UG

CLAT UG exam is an online examination (Computer Based Test) will be held for UG Law courses. Total 200 questions will be asked in the examination and each question will have weightage of 1 mark. The paper language will be English only. Only objective type of questions will be asked in the examination and time duration of examination is 2 hours. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted as a negative marking. This paper will have total 5 sections (English including Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning).

CLAT Exam Pattern for PG

CLAT PG exam is an online examination (Computer Based Test) will be held for postgraduate law courses. Total 150 questions will be asked in the examination and each question will have weightage of 1 mark. The paper language will be English only. Only objective type of questions will be asked in the examination and time duration of examination is 2 hours. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted as a negative marking. This paper will have total 5 sections (Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, and Other law subjects).

CLAT 2018 Syllabus :

CLAT Syllabus for UG Law course will cover subject’s areas like English including Comprehension, Mathematics (taught up to 10th class), General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning and Legal Aptitude. CLAT Syllabus for PG courses include Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and other law subjects such as Contract, Criminal Law,  Torts, Environmental Law, International Law, and Human Rights.

CLAT 2018 Selection Procedure :

Candidates will have to clear CLAT examination. If candidates will score marks as per the cut off and merit list. If candidates will fail after the CLAT 2018 result declaration then they will not be selected for the future round.

CLAT 2018 Cut off :

The CLAT cut-off marks are the minimum marks that candidates will have to secure to clear the Common Law Admission Test. CLAT examination cut-off will be based on several factors such as the number of students appeared in the CLAT examination, seat availability as well as the difficulty level of entrance test. CLAT 2018 Admit Card :

Only those candidates will be eligible to download CLAT 2018 admit card who will successfully submit the application form. CLAT Admit Card 2018 will be released on the official website of CLAT in the 3rd week of April 2018 because yearly the CLAT call letter will be released before 15 to 20 days of examination. Candidates will have to download their call letter only via online mode by using their registration id. Admit card will not be posted on the candidate’s address. At the examination centre, candidates will have to carry a photo id proof with the admit card.

CLAT 2018 Result :

According to the expected dates, CLAT Result 2018 will be declared in the last week of May 2018 on the official website. Candidates will be able to check their result by using their roll number and name. Only those candidates will be selected to for next round who will be shortlisted according to the cut off list. If candidates will not get marks as per the cut off then they will not be eligible to sit in the next round. The CLAT 2018 result will contain the applicant’s rank and scores which will be contained by the candidates.
