JEE Main 2017 is the hardest examination conducted across the country. Around 11 lakh students appeared for the examination, among which only the top 2,20,000 students will make it for the JEE Advanced 2017. Joint Entrance Examination is considered to be one of the toughest examinations of the world. JEE Main 2017 is conducted in two modes i.e. offline mode and online mode. JEE Main Online Examination be held on 8th and 9th April 2017 while the JEE Main Offline exam was conducted on 2nd April 2017. This examination is determined to grant admission to students in one of the most prestigious engineering colleges of the country like IITs, NITs, GFTI and ISM. The pen and paper based JEE Main Examination was held for the admission in B.E and B.Tech Courses. This examination is conducted was conducted for three hours i.e. from 9:30 to 12:30.

As per the students, the question paper was moderate yet lengthy. The question asked this year were very much difficult than last year comparatively. If we look at the class wise distribution of questions then a total of 15 questions were asked from the Physics and Chemistry sections of Class XI and XII respectively. While on the Mathematics front, 14 questions were asked from Class 11th syllabus and 16 questions were asked from Class XII Syllabus.

JEE Main 2017 Cut-Off & Difficulty Level

Following the footsteps of previous year, this year also the Cutoff JEE Main 2017 paper will revolve around 100. This cutoff will be based on the difficulty level, number of students appeared and the number of vacant seats in colleges.

JEE Main 2017 Paper Analysis by Expert

This year’s question paper was very much similar to last year’s paper. JEE Main Paper 2017 was moderate as well as lengthy. According to students who appeared in the examination, this year questions were more of calculation based than theory based. More number of questions were asked from 12th class syllabus then 11th class syllabus. Now let us have a look at the Subject Wise Analysis of JEE Main 2017 Paper.

  • Physics: If we consider all the topics then around 11 questions were asked from the Mechanics, 8 questions from Electrodynamics, 3 from thermodynamics and Kinetic Theory, 2 from Optics and Wave Optics, while 6 questions were asked from Nuclear Physics and Modern Physics.
  • Chemistry: Coming on to Chemistry, this section was considered easiest of all when compared to other two subjects. Majority of the questions asked were theory based than calculative. Looking at different topics involved, the question paper comprised of 8 questions from Organic Chemistry, 11 from Physical Chemistry, 11 from Inorganic Chemistry.
  • Mathematics: Though it is considered to be the toughest subject but this year the story was a bit different. It was comparatively easier than last year, in all moderate. All the questions were based on simple formula. More weightage was given to class 12th Maths than Class XI. Constitutionally, it involved 15 questions from Algebra, 06 questions from Calculus, 03 Questions from Trigonometry, 03 from Conics and 03 from Vector Algebra.

JEE Main 2017 Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2017 Question Paper Pattern was similar to last year’s pattern. It involved 30 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics each thus 90 questions in total. The level of these questions ranged from moderate to hard, but if we consider collectively then it was of moderate type. All the questions asked in this examination are of objective type with multiple choices and single correct answer. For every right answer 4 marks will be awarded while for every wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted respectively.
